There are many options when it comes to planning a trip over summer vacation for your family. Are you looking for the best family adventure? Are you looking for something unique, challenging and possibly one of the best family adventures ever? A multi-day raft trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon might be the perfect choice. Here’s why a Grand Canyon raft expedition makes it to the top of the list when you seek the best family adventure.

It’s Educational

Whether your kids like it or not, they are going to learn about the Grand Canyon.  Raft guides from Arizona Raft Adventures have a vast amount of knowledge and are eager to share it. You and your family may learn about water conservation, park preservation, geology, ecology, astronomy and archaeology. Your kids may learn how to row a boat, tie knots, read water and maybe how to find scorpions at night with a black light. The possibilities are endless. Each trip and set of guides may offer a little something different than the next.

It Encourages Team Building

A Grand Canyon raft adventure will provide an opportunity for you and your family to hone in on your team building skills. Work together as you put up a tent, find the perfect campsite, or even help each other get in and out of the boats. You may extend a hand while crossing a creek, offer words of encouragement to one another during a challenging hike and you might even paddle a raft  Class IV whitewater together.

It’s Time to Unplug

Another reason why this trip is the best family adventure is because you are forced to unplug for days on this adventurous nature vacation. Do you remember what it was like to sit around at dinner without someone looking at their phone? There is no cell service in the Grand Canyon. Phone calls and internet are not available. There is no need to check your Facebook, email, Twitter or play Pokemon Go because you will not have access to data. Can you imagine? It is actually amazing. As a result, you make eye contact and have conversations. Consequently, you will remember what it’s like to be together with no interruptions or distractions from the outside world.

It’s Making Memories

There is a reason that previous guests say this is a “trip of a lifetime.” It is! Make memories that your family will never forget! Run big rapids, dig your toes into the hot sand and swim in beautiful side canyon creeks. Whatever you encounter on the adventure, your family will write your own story. What about a family photo in front of the thundering waterfall at Deer Creek? There are very few places like it in the world. Your family photo will be one of a kind as you show off your favorite and best family adventure ever.

It’s Pushing Limits

Parents will be amazed at what their kids can do! Kids often gain a sense of freedom, adventure and confidence as they travel down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. Furthermore, it’s not always about the kids!  One of the best comments after a family trip is “I didn’t know my parents could do that!” It is also a parent’s opportunity to show the kids that they have an adventurous side and are not afraid to push their own limits too.

Tips for Booking the Best Family Adventure

  • Know your trip types and options from Arizona Raft Adventures. Trip types include a Motor Adventure, a Classic Adventure and the All Paddle Adventure. Trip lengths vary in length as short as 6 days and can be as long as 14. Kids as young as 10 may participate in a Grand Canyon rafting adventure.
  • Know your family. This trip can be the best family adventure vacation. However, it is important to acknowledge that a Grand Canyon rafting adventure is not for everyone. It is crucial that you choose a best family adventure that fits the physical abilities of everyone in your group. The word “vacation” is used very lightly. It should actually be compared to an “expedition” or simply an “adventure.” It is physically and mentally demanding.
  • Book Early.  You are likely trying to fit this vacation in over summer break which is a popular time of the year. You should plan about a year in advance in order to secure a reservation for your best family adventure.
  • Buy travel insurance. Travelex Insurance Services offers family friendly coverage in the case that life changes or an accident happens. You might want to consider additional coverage that covers you for reasons that might cause you to cancel do to educational conflicts or for ANY reason you might have to cancel. Discuss your needs with an insurance provider. They can assist you with purchasing the type of coverage that best fits your family.
