I Dream of the Canyon
Weathered Rock. Ancient people.
The anticipation of another sunrise.
Red Rock. Blue Sky.
The whisper of a well-placed oar.
I dream of the Canyon.
Twisted Rock. Shining Water.
The shadow of a condor in flight.
Dusty Rock. Drifting Clouds.
The scent of redbud on the breeze.
I dream of the Canyon
Sculpted Rock. Distant Rim.
The rumbling roar of a rapid ahead.
Dark Rock. Clear Brook,
The careful step of a wary bighorn.
I dream of the Canyon
Carved Rock. Desert Sun,
The promise of a hidden trail.
Coloured Rock. Sandy Beach,
The hint of wonder round the curve.
I dream of the Canyon.
Towering Rock. Patient Guide.
The living of a life less ordinary.
Broken Rock. Watchful Heron,
The suggestion of rain in the air.
I dream of the Canyon.
Layered Rock. Meandering River.
The spark of lightning in the sky.
Glowing Rock. Setting Sun,
The rolling echo of a distant storm.
I dream of the Canyon
Warm Rock. Bright Stars.
The smile that speaks of wonder found.
I dream of the Canyon.
Of the Canyon I dream.
