The Best Salmon from Troller Point Fisheries

A Bit about Troller Point Fisheries-Our Salmon Supplier

On every one of our rafting adventures, the very first night’s dinner is delicious salmon, served with spinach salad and quinoa pilaf. We like to support as many environmentally conscious food providers as possible, and after our previous salmon vendor decided to slow his business down, we had to look into some other options.

That’s when we found Troller Point Fisheries! They provide really beautiful salmon to us, and they’re also a small family-owned sustainable business. Their salmon comes from southeast Alaska, and uses an environmentally friendly safe hook-and-line for all of their fishing. They immediately freeze all fish they catch on board, and carefully clean and inspect each each before quick-freezing it.

A Little More About Them

According to their website, they use a trolling technique for fishing instead of a trawling technique. Instead of using a big net through the water that snags anything and everything in its path, they use four lines with four to six lures on each to safely harvest the salmon. This is what makes their practices so much more environmentally friendly.

Troller Point sells their fish locally in northwestern Washington twice a year (in the spring and fall). If you’re from that area, join their mailing list to hear first about their dock sales! At their dock sales, you’ll find a wide variety of salmon, cod, halibut, as well as prawns.

If you’re unable to purchase fish from them due to your location, they have some great recipes on their website! You can find recipes for fish, sauces and marinates, shrimp, octopus, vegetables and pasta dishes.

We have been purchasing from them for the past 3 years. We purchase 1000 pounds of salmon each year from them, in two different deliveries. Their salmon comes frozen and they ship it to us overnight. We pride ourselves in purchasing from family-owned, environmentally safe companies, and are proud to support Troller Point Fisheries to supply all the salmon we eat on our fun and exciting rafting adventures.
