KAYAKING IN GRAND CANYON

Have you always wanted to kayak in Grand Canyon on the mighty Colorado River?

Anyone considering kayaking through the Grand Canyon must have solid Class 4 whitewater skills and a reliable river roll. If you have these two skills and a sense of adventure then kayaking in Grand Canyon alongside one of our rafting trips may be the journey for you. These two week expeditions are staffed with a safety boater(s). A safety boater is an experienced Canyon kayak guide who will assist in picking ideal routes and aiding in rescue if needed. Kayaking is an option for an individual or small groups of kayakers. Non-kayakers are welcome to join these adventures and may ride on one of the support rafts.  We offer three options if you’d like to kayak in Grand Canyon.

Option 1: Join one of our regularly scheduled kayak specific adventures.
We have a couple of preferred kayaking outfitters. Both Current Adventures and Small World Adventures run one or more trips a year with us.  Both of these renowned kayak establishments specialize in providing kayak adventure travel and kayak instruction. AzRA has been running trips with them for several years. Contact Current Adventures or Small World Adventures directly to inquire about their Grand Canyon kayak adventures. Extra charges to the kayaking outfitters will apply.

Option 2: Reserve on one of our existing 2 week Classic Adventures.
If you or a small group of kayak friends (up to 5) want to kayak in Grand Canyon, this may be the option for you! You or your group will need to be approved by management after a questionnaire on your kayaking abilities. Additionally, you must provide your own kayaking gear and commit to kayaking the entire length of the river. Option 3: Charter your own two week kayak adventure.
We welcome kayak schools, groups, clubs and kayak adventure travel groups. This option usually needs to be organized 2 years in advance. Extra charges may apply. Please contact us for additional details for organizing a charter expedition for kayakers.
