2013 Government Shutdown Update
Any government closure affects our Grand Canyon raft adventures dramatically. The boat ramp is only accessible by passing through the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Therefore, we do not have access to get to the Colorado River. We have a trip that is supposed to launch today. It will most likely not be able to make their trip due the Government shutdown. We have guests who are planning on hiking in to their trip on Friday, October 4, 2013. They are currently on stand by to see if they can get into the entrance of the Grand Canyon National Park at the South Rim. Lastly, we have a trip that is supposed to be departing for their river trip starting Tuesday, October 8 (this trip also has an exchange).
At this point in time, we do not know what the outcome will be. We are trying out hardest to make new plans for our guests, but we are still at the mercy of the National Park Service who is currently unable to respond to us. Our biggest hope would be that the Government will re-open by the time our October 4 and October 8 trips are affected, but unfortunately, we just do not know. The image below is a copy of an email sent to our October 8 trip guests with their trip options.
