This training program was created for any and all of our guests rafting through Grand Canyon with us! Whether you’re on our Classic Adventure, Motor Adventure or All-Paddle Adventure, this will be a great program for you if you’re not used to being active every day, and it’s a great program if you already live an active lifestyle and want to know the best way to prepare specifically for your river trip.
This 8 week Grand Canyon training program is designed to be completed before your trip launch date. If you can’t get all 8 weeks in before you leave, do what you can. Doing at least some of this rather than none of it will help you be more physically prepared than you would have been without any added exercise. it is our hope that the training you do for your Grand Canyon rafting adventure will not only boost your experience on the river, but will also help you feel stronger and more resilient in day-to-day life!
As we explain many times along your reservation process, this trip is a much more physically demanding adventure than most realize. You’re carrying your gear around everywhere, oftentimes up steep, sandy beaches, around camp to find a campsite you want to sleep at, you’re hiking every day, getting on and off the rafts multiple times a day, helping unload and reload up the boats, etc. There is a lot of activity on this adventure, not to mention the fact that you’re living outdoors, sleeping on the ground for multiple days in a row. It’s very important to be in good physical condition before going on this trip. If you aren’t, you may find yourself pretty miserable.
