River Adventure Reviews 2013

After arriving home from a Grand Canyon river adventure, people often have unique moments that stick out in their memories as their favorite part of their trip. Here at Arizona Raft Adventures, we see an overwhelming amount of comments about our awesome food! With a menu full of fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats, all put together by our amazing cook/guides, our guests often say that they eat better on their river trips than they do at home. But, don’t take our word for it, let some of our 2011, 2012, and 2014 and guests elaborate…

2013 River Reviews

“Way beyond my expectations. The crew made sure we were there to have the time of our lives. And indeed we did because of their knowledge of the canyon, their professionalism, and their love for the river. I trusted them 100% for their ability to guide us through the rapids and those treacherous hikes up the side streams. It’s so hard to single out any one event to be the highlight because everything was so incredible. There were the obvious Lava Falls and heaven-like surroundings of the side canyons. But I have to mention the little things like the book reading at the beginning of each day was very special to me. And Tom’s guitar playing in the middle of the majestic canyon touched all of our souls.” Eric W. –Lower Canyon All Paddle– July 2013

“It was a beautiful trip. I’ve done several multi-day raft trips. This one was exceptional. The river and surrounding countryside are simply stunning. Your guides ensured that we saw and learned a lot in a way that was memorable and varied. I liked the hikes and physical activity. The guides challenged us, but not to the point of being overwhelmed. They also prepared s well for the hike out from Phantom Ranch to the South Rim. The highlight was Day 4: the granary hike and the Little Colorado…with paddling in between… made it a very special day. I still can’t believe a place like the Little Colorado exists on this earth. Stunning.”- Carla B. –Upper Canyon Classic– June 2013

“I was astounded not only at the quality of the food served, but the skill with which the leader, paddle captains and assistants prepared it. We really had a great crew of chefs. Quite a few of the guests also got involved with helping prepare meals as well. My Husband and out friend who also did the trip are both old rafters/river rats for whom this trip has been a “bucket list” item for years. I’ve rafted, but not at their level and felt like I was coming along for the ride- this was “their” trip. But once I got into the canyon and on the river things changed for me. Part of it was becoming more proficient as a paddler and learning to go through the rapids (by the last day I was in the prow of the raft going through 217 Mile Rapid!), but more it had to do with the fact that our trip leader and guides gave us all opportunities to challenge ourselves during our river adventure. I wanted to push myself so that I could experience the trip to the fullest. I didn’t want to miss a single opportunity. I swam rapids, went on hikes successfully, and felt like I came away from the trip with new confidence and sense of pride in what I’d accomplished. Hikes were just phenomenal. You couldn’t believe the canyons and trails you were getting to see. The vistas we never imagined. So much of this trip is internalized. Really it’s hard to explain or describe to other people just how much the Canyon transforms you.” Janet J. –Full Canyon All paddle– July 2013

“I still can’t fathom how enough fresh food for 3 meals a day for 27 people for 13 days fit into the cargo. And, the guides conjured it into delicious meals– even freshly baked cake! Amazing and much appreciated.” Chele M.-Full Canyon Classic– July 2013

“This was a real vacation for me! The best of what a vacation is. No cooking for 2 weeks, no decisions to make. No worries. Kevin had everything so well planned- and spot on for what we wanted to do. The campsites they chose were great- he knew when we needed shade and when we needed sun. We played like kids again. We had great mix of relaxation and exercise and fun. I think it was important we were encouraged to swim a rapid. It was a real rush and good practice just in case. Cocktail hour was right up there with the best part of the day. The walk into the marble Canyon drill tunnels was really something; I loved the rapids, I loved the side canyons, I loved being in camp and dinner! Hiking up Tapeats Creek was really fun. Deer creek falls was awesome, the loop hike up Carbon Creek and down Lava Canyon to be met by the boats was really fun; on and on!” Anonymous- Full Canyon Classic– May 2013

“I loved my river adventure! I had never done a multi-day trip such as this and was apprehensive but from the moment I met the crew at Lee’s Ferry, I relaxed as I knew I was in good hands. I enjoyed the solitude and the beauty of the canyon. I wasn’t interested in geology before I listened to Howie! He was great! I liked most of our camping locations, especially at Fern Glen. What a wonderful trip! Thank you!!” Connie R.- Motor Adventure– August 2013
